The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI)
With all of the acronyms for organizations and certifications, choosing a qualified home inspector can be a confusing task. Although there are other large national home inspector associations, The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), founded in 1976, is North America’s oldest and largest professional society of home inspectors. ASHI’s membership requirements are more stringent than any other organization and the annual continuing education continuing education requirement exceeds local state licensing. Kentucky Real Estate Investors Association (KREIA)
REIA is devoted to protecting the public in the state of Kentucky through excellence in home inspections and advancing the profession of inspecting homes. Currently, Alex Lockstead is the Secretary on the Board of Directors for KREIA. This association has done much to promote the professionalism of the home inspection industry in Kentucky by providing excellent continuing education and by maintaining vigil over the legislative requirements of the profession. Likewise, KREIA advances the public interest in professional home inspection, through education, improving standards and advocacy.
